Ireland’s Grand Slam Dream Over

Ireland’s Grand Slam dream is over following a 26 points to 19 loss to France at Landsdowne Road. Ireland were never really in control of the game but despite this they were still in contention in the closing stages of the game thanks to an an amazing individual effort from captain Brian O’Driscoll to score a try to keep Ireland in the game.

O’Driscoll’s try left Ireland 2 points behind going into the closing stages of the game but Ireland were unable to manage to get a drop goal and ended up conceding a try in their desperation to score.

The loss leave’s the hopes of Ireland’s first Grand Slam since 1948 in tatters but the Triple Crown is still there for the taking and depending on the margin of Wales’ victory over Scotland tomorrow, the Championship could yet be won by Ireland.
