Munster Sign Brian Lima
Munster have nominated scrum-half Frank Murphy and utility three-quarters Brian Lima (Samoa) as their additional players for the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup. Both names were submitted to ERC by 12 noon today ahead of the deadline for registration.
The news that Lima will join the province will come as a welcome boost to a backline that had been seriously lacking with the loss of full-back Christian Cullen for the rest of the season.
Lima, joins Munster on a short-term contract for the remainder of the season. He Samoa’s all-time leading try scorer, has been capped 50 times in a career that has taken him to Auckland Blues, Otago Highlanders and Stade Francais.

smaks of desperation at this stage, cullen out for the rest of the season and we replace him with a center and a scrum half, the centers are to old and havent played well for a while and those positions should have been looked at during the summer. shaun payne will do ok as cover for cullen but this munster team backline has been around a while and needs a major face lift. a wing and 2 proven quality centers will be needed to be brought in over the summer. saying that although lima has been around a while he has a ferocious tackle and could shore up or central defence. but we just dont have the pace and killer instinct out wide. gaffney has taken us as far as he could and i think he jumped rather than being pushed as he applied for the perth super 14 side before being offered the oz assitant coach.
