Gaffney To Leave Munster

Alan Gaffney had put an end to the rumours circulating about his future with the province by confirming that he will not be seeking to extend his contract when it expires at the end of this season. Gaffney joined the province 3 years ago when Declan Kidney departed for the Irish set-up and since then has been highly regarded.


The rumours were intially that Gaffney would be interested in coaching the new Australian side in the expanded Super 12 (Super 14) but since then it’s emergred that he was in line for an Assistant coach position with Australia and today it was announced that he has accepted that offer.

Munster will now begin the search for a replacement with Connacht coach Michael Bradley widely tipped as Gaffney’s sucessor.
