Celtic Cup To Be Dropped

Following a meeting on Monday the countries involved in the Celtic League, Ireland, Scotland and Wales have announced that the competition’s future is confirmed until at least 2008. The next three season’s will see the League continue but as many had expected the Celtic Cup will be dropped.

The removal of the Celtic Cup will allow the League to be structured so that no matches will be played during either the Six Nations or the Autumn Internationals. This will be welcomed for many reasons, not least it paves the way for the return of ‘A’ Internationals with more available players during the Six Nations.
