Connacht Slip Up Against Cardiff

Connacht’s hopes of getting the Celtic League play-off spot for the Heineken Cup took a dent today when their leading rivals for the spot, Cardiff Blues, beat them by 18 points to 8 in Galway to move within one point of Connacht in the League.

Connacht started well scoring after only 65 seconds. Paul Warwick put a kick throught that was collected by onrushing wing Conor McPhillips, whose quick step around Craig Morgan put James Downey galloping over to the right of the posts. But that was the high point of the game for Connacht. Cardiff went on to score tries in both halves to take their first victory in Ireland in almost a year.
