Narrow Wins For Leinster and Muunster
Today saw the first of two weekends of derbies in the Celtic League with Munster visiting Connacht and Ulster making the trip to Dublin to face Leinster. In the end it was the kickers, Paul Burke for Munster and Felipe Contepomi for Leinster who saw their teams to narrow victories.
Last season when Munster travelled to meet Connacht after Christmas the score-line was 0-3 and this year the score-line was the same! A 4,500 crowd saw Paul Burke kick the only points of the game to give Munster their 9th win in a row in the Celtic League, but due to the Ospreys winning and getting a bonus point yesterday, Munster are now placed second in the League.
In Dublin, Ulster started well and Tyrone Howe scored the only try of the game with the Ulstermen leading by 8 points to nil at half-time, but in the second-half of the game Felipe Contepomi kicked 3 penalties giving Leinster a 9-8 victory that keeps them in third in the league.
