Irish U-21 player Jamie Heaslip and full Ireland international Gordon D’Arcy have been both short-listed for the IRB World Players of the Year awards which take place at the end of Novemeber.

D’Arcy who won last season’s Six Nations player of the Tournament award, has been nominated alongside France’s Serge Betsen, South Africa’s Schalk Burger and Marius Joubert and Australian Matt Giteau.

Heaslip has been noted due to his contribution to Ireland’s effort in the Under 21 World Cup, a tournament in which Ireland reached the final for the first time.
