Leinster Cruise Past Borders

Leinster last night cruised past The Borders to a 50-13 bonus point win that took them to the top of the Celtic League. Leinster now are one point ahead of Welsh side Neath-Swansea Ospreys, but the Ospreys have a game in hand. The Ospreys today face Ulster in Belfast.

Leinster won the match with six tries but the match didn’t always seem as clear-cut, at times it looked like it might be a lot closer. The visitors collected an early try and added two penalties. At the time Leinster were getting very little posession and it looked like it would be a tough night for the Leinster players, but then the game opened up.

With Leinster warming up with two Brian O’Meara penalties, they then stepped up into first gear with Gary Brown scoring the first. This was quickly followed up with one from Denis Hickie, in his first start since his return from injury. This left the scored 21-13 at half time.

Felipe Contepomi who took over the kicking duties from O’Meara during the match then added another penalty early in the second half, with James Norton and Gary Brown adding two more tries to take the lead to 34-13. Two minutes later Brown completed his hat trick, and then James Norton added his second during injury time, to complete Leinsters demolition of The Borders
