Lawlor Score Secures Munster Victory

A late injury time try from Munster substitute Mossie Lawlor secured victory for his side over Jonny Wilkinson’s Newcastle Falcons.

Munster fans will have lots to be happy about after performance. The Munster team mostly made up of their second string in the absense of the Irish internationals played agressively all night and fought for everything. They conceded an early try and from then on the defence was very solid. Paul Burke converted two penalties to bring the score to 7-6 at half time.

After the break Munster came out strongly again but a number of attacks broke down close to the Newcastle line. Newcastle secured another penalty which was again converted by Jonny Wilkinson to take them into a 10 - 6 lead.

Munster lifted by a sizeable, noisy Thomond Park crowd, never gave up and despite dropping the ball when tries seemed certain a number of times, won the game thanks to the late Lawlor try.
