Connacht And Munster Lose

Both Connacht and Munster lost their first games of the season last night. Connacht were hosts to a Newcastle side which saw the return of England out-half Jonny Wilkinson. Wilkinson also scored a number of penalties during the 40 minutes he was on the pitch. The final score finished up with Newcastle on 32 to Connacht’s 9.

Meanwhile in Limerick, Munster were facing another Zurich premiership side, London Irish. A very experimental Munster set-up was present all night, with substitutions taking place throughout the second half. Munster fans will be disappointed with the number of basic errors present in their play, particularly with regard to the line out.

Munster will play Newcastle next Monday in Thomond Park in the second of their pre-season friendlies.
