Munster’s New Signing
Around this time last year Munster fans were jumping up and down with delight when it was announced that former All Black Christian Cullen would be signing a three year contract. This year however Munster coach hasn’t had quite as high a profile signing.
Munster today announced that Neath-Swansea Osprey’s centre James Storey would be signing for the 2004/2005 season. Commentators and fans had been crying out for some renforcment for a back line that was shown up in Landsdowne Road in the Heineken Cup semi-final. We’re not too sure if James Storey was what they had in mind though.
James Storey will be no push over for the opposition however, he is an impressive 6′3″ and 14st 3lbs. Munsterfans aren’t in agreement on how good a signing he is. With one fan remarking - “Paul Burke, Mike Storey and James Storey hardly quickens the blood.” - alluding to the fact that the three combined don’t create nearly as much buzz as last year’s signing of Cullen. However others on the message board believe that the fans should have faith that lads you “don’t always need big name players.” and “to trust Gaffneys choices until they’re proven to be bad ones”
We here at Irish Rugby Now! are going to reserve judgment, but let’s just say we wish it were Matt Burke!
