Indiscipline Costs Munster

Alan Gaffney must surely be furious with his side’s indiscipline in the Celtic League tonight. Two penalties at the death sealed victory for their opponents, Celtic Warriors, who won the match by 29 points to 25.

Munster started the game very strongly and looked at times like they were going to run away with the match, but after around 20 minutes, Munster lock Donnacha O’Callaghan was sent to the bin, in what was most definitely the turning point of the first half. With O’Callaghan in the bin, Warriors came back into the game and scored a try and a number of penalties to take the score to 16 points to 15 at half time.

Munster started the second half as they did the first showing conviction and managed to stretch their lead again to 25 points to 16 with 20 minutes to go, but yet again lapses in Munsters concentration allowed them to get back into the game, and with one minute to go Munster led by a single point.

After a dubious penalty was awarded to Warriors, they took the lead and then sealed the victory with an injury time penalty.
