Contepomi is Player Of The Month

Leinster out-half Felipe Contepomi has been voted Bank Of Scotland (Ireland) player of the month. Contepomi has been one of Leinster’s most unfortunate players with injury and administrative errors preventing him playing for much of the season, but has impressed when he has played.

McCall for Ulster Job

Ireland Under 21 coach Mark McCall has got the nod to succeed Alan Solomons at Ulster in a 3 year deal which will start this June. The Ulster job had been expected to go to former Ireland assistant coach Declan Kidney, but McCall’s strong background in Ulster Rugby may be the reason he got the job.

Gleeson Doubful For Scotland Game

Ireland and Leinster flanker Keith Gleeson is unlikely to make Ireland’s Triple Crown game against Scotland next week. Gleeson who made a stand out contribution against the Italians, suffered a suspected broken arm in a tackle during the second half of Saturday’s game.

Ireland will be relatively happy with their preformance in atrocious conditions at Landsdowne Road today. The Irish eventually won out by 19 points to 3 thanks to tries from Malcom O’Kelly, Brian O’Driscoll and Shane Horgan.

Irish second row Paul O’Connell has been forced to pull out of Ireland’s Six Nations clash against Italy tomorrow. O’Connell is unable to play due to a rib injury that has failed to heal properly.

Ireland Squad For U-19 World Cup

The Ireland Under 19 Squad for the World Cup which begins on the 27th of March has been named. The squad will face New Zealand, Japan, England in their three group matches.

Strong Side for Italy Clash

Eddie O’Sullivan has named a strong side for the match against Italy on Saturday. Geordan Murphy comes back into the side in place of Tyrone Howe, who has been dropped completely from O’Sullivan’s line-up.

Double Blow For Leinster

Connacht took four second half tries to come from behind to beat Leinster at the Sportsground yesterday. Leinster will also now have to contend with their star out half Felipe Contepomi recieving yet another injury in his short career.

Impressive Ulster Stay Top

Ulster took 28 points away from their trip to Wales tonight to stay comfortably on top of the Celtic League. Their opponents Celtic Warriors, couldn’t manage to get anything on the score board.
