O’Connell Named As Captain

Eddie O’Sullivan today announced his team to play France in their 2004 RBS Six Nations opener in Paris on Saturday. Paul O’Connell has been named as captain due to the fact that Brian O’Driscoll remains injured. The team shows 4 changes to the team that lost to France in the World Cup in October. Gordon D’Arcy, Tyrone Howe, Anthony Foley and Shane Byrne all come into the side.

Ireland (v France): G Dempsey; S Horgan; K Maggs; G D’Arcy, T Howe; R O’Gara, P Stringer; R Corrigan, S Byrne, J Hayes, M O’Kelly, P O’Connell, capt, S Easterby, K Gleeson, A Foley.

Replacements: F Sheahan, S Best, D O’Callaghan, V Costello, G Easterby, D Humphreys, A Horgan.
