Despite the speculation to the contrary, it now appears that Brian O’Driscoll will miss the start of the RBS Six Nations. In recent days, news had appeared that seemed to indicate that the injury to his hamstring wasn’t as bad as initially thought, but his father and agent Frank, has said that the initial assesment of the injury remains.

‘’Reports that he will be fit and ready for the opening game of the Six Nations are absolute garbage,'’ he said.

‘’Nobody has spoken to him, or myself, yet there are bulletins everywhere in the news about the state of his health.

‘’At present he is having intensive treatment for the injury, but he has done little or no training.
